Research Tip: “Text Space” Feature on Matton.com Saves Time!

If you know your next design will require placing text over the visual, why not save yourself some research time by using Matton’s advanced search feature, Text Space? Let’s say you need a horizontal shot of a family on a beach, but you also know you’ll need to place a block of text along the top- portion of the image. If you simply enter “beach family" in the search box on Matton.com, you’ll come up with nearly 5,000 images to sift through. Using the “horizontal” filter, along with the Text Space feature, you come up with around 2,000 images that are text placement suitable. That saves more than a third of your research time.

The Text Space feature is easy to use. Open the filters options by clicking on “filters” beneath the search box on the home page. The Text Space option appears at the left side of the screen as a small dog within a grid box. Simply click on those areas within the grid box where you need to place text. Enter your search terms and click the Search button. The results will include only those images that match your keywords and that have open space for type in the areas you selected.

The search I made can be seen here: family beach with text space
